WALSALL v BRENTFORD

THE SADDLERS stepped out for this mouth-watering clash with the in-form League leaders in good heart.

The opening exchanges saw both teams checking each other out with chances at a premium at either end.

Some good work on the left by Milan Lalkovic in the 19th minute saw him deliver an inviting cross that was headed clear as the resulting corner came to nothing.

There are signs that Walsall are starting to get into our stride. Lalkovic did well to win the ball before getting in a strike that was straight at the 'keeper.

After a neat touch from Craig Westcarr and link up with James Chambers, the ball lands at the feet of Adam Chambers whose strike is gathered by David Button.

Moments later the visitors take the lead when a cross finds the head of Clayton Donaldson who guides the ball home on the half-hour.

A cross was punched clear by O'Donnell only as far as Alan Judge whose strike deflected wide.

A Walsall corner was not properly cleared and as Adam Chambers eventually got the ball back in, Lalkovic's header back found Westcarr who made it 1-1 on 44 minutes.

It was a positive end to the half for The Saddlers who applied the pressure late on.
