THE SADDLERS completed the signing of Matt Richards on a two-year deal following a successful pre-season trial on August 4th 2009.
The 24 year-old progressed through the ranks at Ipswich Town where he made a total of 168 senior appearances. During his time at Portman Road he also won England Under-21 honours as he played a key role in helping the club reach the play-offs in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
Spending the majority of the 2007/08 campaign on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, he then served the club on a similar basis during the first half of last season.
Released by Ipswich Town at the end of last season, he spent some time at Leyton Orient earlier this summer before arriving at the Banks's Stadium and scoring a fine goal on his debut against West Bromwich Albion.
A left-sided midfielder who is also comfortable in a central midfield role as well as left-back.
